From the Lena Pillars to “Spasskaya Pad”. International students came to study the climate of Yakutia

Students of Demark and Germany to study the climatic characteristics of Yakutia. On July 15, Summer School for international students started at NEFU.

NEFU International Summer School has been working together with the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD for six years. This year the subject of the summer school was the transformation of landscapes and the adaptation of the society. "We are pleased that international students interested in living conditions in Yakutia, our climate, language and culture. We hope that they will like the program of events, and will visit us next year"- said Lena Vinokourova, the chief specialist of Arctic Cooperation, Department of NEFU International Relations Office.

From July 15 to August 2, students from Denmark and Germany will go on field practice in Central Yakutia. Guests will visit Elanka village, the Lena Pillars Nature Park, “Diring Yuryakh” ancient encampment, the tukulans (Yakutian deserts) and "Spasskaya Pad" research forest station.

"I was always attracted by the North and I'm glad I’m here. My friend trained in the summer school two years ago and returned happy, she noted the unique nature of Yakutia ", said Juliana Videburg, a student of Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (Germany).

Teachers of the federal university will hold lectures for students. So, the head of the NEFU Museum of Mammoth Semyon Grigoriev will tell about the unique animal discoveries of mammoth fauna over the last years. In addition, participants of the summer school will attend Management of hydrometeoservice in RS(Y), NEFU Museum of Mammoth and Museum "Friendship" in Sottintsy village of Ust-Aldan Region. Students will receive certificates of NEFU Summer School after graduation.
