NEFU student offered an alternative idea of bridge across the Lena River

Since April 11 to 18, the 52nd International Scientific Student Conference “Student and Scientific and Technical progress” was held in Novosibirsk. Student of Technology College of NEFU Technological Institute Dmitry Spiridonov took the second medal place.

The work is based on the experience of laying a pipeline under the Lena River, which will solve the problem of timely delivery of goods to customers, improve communication of Yakutsk and Vilyuy group of regions with the village Nizhny Bestyakh.

“Dmitry Spiridonov presented the project “Submarine electric freight locomotive of round trip across the Lena River”. We plan to build a pipeline of 1.5 meters thickness under the river to the village Haptagay of Megino-Kangalassky Region. The electric will operate on a battery system and via remote control. Each waggon carries waggons of seven or eight tons. There will be three cars, which will carry 30 tons in one way. We plan to build discharge and loading station on each bank of the river”, Nikolay Pakhomov, College teacher and supervisor said.

The Committee recommended this innovative project for consideration by the Government of Sakha (Yakutia) for realization. According to Dmitry Spiridonov, to build such pipeline will cost RUR 160 million. This is a great alternative to the bridge over the river, which costs RUR 40 billion.

“This is a victory not only of the College and Technological Institute, but also the entire NEFU. Indeed, such global ideas appear due to study and work at the university. This is an interesting, relevant and promising project. We hope that the government will approve the idea”, Nikolay Pakhomov, scientific supervisor of the student said.
